Chester Arthur was a Vermonter and our 21st President, who presided over the ribbon-cutting for the brand new Brooklyn Bridge, championed civil service reform and redecorated the White House. This room is for him, an elegant mix of Victorian and neoclassical—the look Chester chose for the White House. A Tiffany lamp stands sentry at the end of the bed, rose velvet drapes frame the porch and Main Street, Persian carpets bejewel the floor. In true presidential style, the bathroom is lavish (and handicap-accessible), with a steam shower good for unwinding after outdoor adventures or meetings with other heads of state.
$475 Sunday—Thursday (blackout dates apply),
$575 Friday and Saturday.
