Early Season Skiing in Vermont

This winter is making up for lost powder days, getting off to quite the start here in the Mad River Valley, which means it’s the perfect time to come stay with us at The Pitcher Inn. Our local ski slopes are beckoning!

Fast-Whitening Slopes

Up on the varied runs of Sugarbush and Mad River Glen—two of New England’s most legendary ski resorts, both of them within easy reach of our Warren, Vermont home base—the snowfall’s already been impressive, and regular dumps of fresh powder are upping the ante with each passing week. This is, in fact, one of the snowier kickoffs to the ski season in a number of years: exciting, to say the least.

“Ski for Free” at The Pitcher Inn

Powder piling up, conditions improving daily, yet slopes still pretty uncrowded: December skiing in the Green Mountains is mighty hard to beat. That’s all the more true when you consider our very own two-night midweek or three-night weekend “Ski for Free” packages. This awesome snow-lover’s deal gives you two or four (respectively) one-day ski passes to Sugarbush—or two or four hour long in-room massages—plus daily breakfast and afternoon tea and cookies alongside accommodations in our Mountain, Lodge, Ski, or Trout guestrooms. Not a bad way to welcome in the winter season, we’d say. New this year is the option for Nordic skiing passes if downhill isn’t your thing.

Or Maybe Just Drink Some Vermont Beer…

And hey: If skiing’s not your thing, why not consider The Pitcher Inn’s “Beer Safari” for your December getaway? Instead of carving your way down the mountainside, you’ll be quaffing world-class craft beers whipped up right here in the sudsy state of Vermont. Alongside two nights of accommodations, dinner for two at our Tracks tavern, and some other Pitcher Inn goodies, the Beer Safari includes visits to Frost Beer Works, Zero Gravity, and other outstanding regional breweries—unique opportunities to meet resident brew masters, taste hard-to-find specialty beers, and bring home some bottled-up souvenirs.

December Retreats to The Pitcher Inn

So c’mon! Spend part of your December at The Pitcher Inn and embrace the snow-socked mountains and hop-filled breweries in our Mad River Valley backyard. It’s looking like it’s going to be a classic Vermont winter, and you won’t find a better perch for soaking it all up than our luxurious accommodations here in Warren.
