Vermont’s Mad River Valley: Where Skiing & Craft Brewing Meet!

Nothing rounds out a fine day of Green Mountain skiing than a pint or two of local craft beer—and the Mad River Valley is ideal for making this marriage-made-in-heaven happen!

“Come for the Mountains, Stay for the Valley” is the local motto, and the combo of topnotch slopes and topnotch brews embodies it completely. Within easy reach of us, of course, are the beloved ski/snowboard hubs of Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen. And we’re also blissfully close to one of the Mad River Valley’s premier breweries, Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Lawson’s Finest churns out an impressively varied lineup of highly regarded beers across the calendar, from the Hopcelot IPA and the Maple Tripple Ale to the Red Spruce Bitter and the Spring Fever Session Ale.

Other excellent craft breweries lie within easy reach of our Mad River Valley perch. For example, Waterbury to the north hosts Prohibition Pig (with its Downtown Piggy Brown, Vanilla Bean Porter, and other scrumptious varieties) and the Alchemist, exclusively devoted to a single masterful libation: the Heady Topper Double IPA. Besides tracking them down at their sources, you can find many local and regional beers for sale at the Warren Store, East Warren Market, and other outlets.

And just outside the realm of beer we simply must give a shout-out to our local Mad River Distillers, which produces rum, whiskey, and other spirits.

In short, the Mad River Valley is one of those special corners of the world where you can really celebrate: relishing the high-quality snowpack of the Green Mountains, then toasting the day’s adventure with a regionally brewed beverage. And don’t forget that our very own restaurant, 275 Main, for truly tasting the flavors of Vermont.

We can’t wait to host you as you embrace the Mad River Valley’s ski slopes and craft beer with open arms!
